For years, the merchandise of the Raiders, L.A. Kings and the White Sox has been associated with gang members. The silver and black and/or olde English script has been a favorite within the genre of gangsta rap for a long while. This cup, now available at U.S. Cellular Field, only further increases the “street” association with the Sox ballclub. Which might be cool if it wasn’t the ugliest looking cup ever with the red Chicago scripting on it.
The font dominating the cup looks like a knockoff Affliction t-shirt, or a really bad Ed Hardy imitator. It’s a desperate attempt to have a soft drink with “street cred” because even the plastic beverage conveyance is “tough.”
