Detroit Pistons reveal first ever "Motor City" Uniforms (photos)

The Detroit Pistons unveiling a new special uniform that will be worn during 10 games throughout the 2013-14 NBA regular season. The navy blue and red uniforms feature “Motor City” across the front and mark the club’s first alternative look since the 2005-06 NBA season. The uniforms are the first of their kind, designed to celebrate pride in metro Detroit while paying homage to the region’s automotive roots.

Obviously, the team’s name, Pistons, and the Detroit Pistons Dance Team, Automotion, also pay homage to the city’s failing auto industry. There’s no better time than now to try and restore pride in the Motor City, having the actual city go bankrupt last month. The biggest city in American history to go bankrupt, Detroit is $18 billion in debt.

The Pistons worked in consultation with adidas and the NBA in development of the uniforms. The Pistons will wear the Motor City uniforms will on selected Sunday dates as part of the club’s Motor City Sunday theme nights as well as one holiday home game and three road games shown on the schedule below:
