It has been an exciting year for the Washington Redskins. Anyone who follows the Redskins has many reasons to be a fan this season. Even though they have seen some down years recently, none of that matters going forward. Why should you be a Redskins fan this season?
RGIII Has Solidified The Quarterback Position
Robert Griffin has made the future much brighter this year. He has finally given the Redskins the long-term answer that they have been seeking for years at quarterback. Taken with the second pick in the 2012 draft, Griffin has made the entire offense better when he takes the field.
Alfred Morris Was A Steal
Running back Alfred Morris looking like an absolute steal this season. His name may remind you of a small community college in Minnesota. However, he has quickly become one of the best running backs in the league. If you like humble players, he is your guy. Morris still drives a car that was made in the early 90’s. Not many players would do something like that just to stay humble and grounded.
The Schedule Is Favorable For The Rest Of The Year
Washington is currently 2-3 this season. While it may seem unlikely that a young team could turn it around in time for the playoffs, the Redskins play a favorable schedule. Games against Cleveland and Carolina are certainly winnable. Games against the Eagles could also be winnable considering how poorly they have been playing.
The Defense Has Been Resilient Without Brian Orakpo
Brian Orakpo has been the heart and soul of the Washington pass rush. Without him, the team was considered much weaker. However, the defense has battled in each game that has been played since his injury. The good news is that London Fletcher is still playing at a high level despite being deep into his thirties.
The Washington Redskins are a team that looks primed for success in the near future. If you are looking for a team to root for, why not give Washington a try? They will be exciting to watch whether they win or lose. Washington plays with heart and passion every single game. Hopefully, you will be there to cheer them on every Sunday.
Ryan was born, raised and currently still lives in Chicago and enjoys all things sports. During the day, you can find him working at a marketing company (which conveniently sells Washington redskins gear), and on his time off you can find him rooting for most sports; especially the underdog – who doesn’t like the underdog?
