Tracy Wolfson was promoted from college football sideline reporting to NFL reporting on CBS. We learned all about this in April. But CBS didn’t make it official until a couple days ago. You probably missed this story. Both this week and back then in April because, sports media reporting is starting to dwindle. Especially on the local level, it’s becoming almost non-existent in that realm.

Wolfson formerly worked for MSG Network as an anchor and reporter as well as covering golf, college football and Arena Football for ESPN from 2002–2003. Her on-air career began at WZBN in Trenton, New Jersey as a sports anchor. Tracy Wolfson also appeared as a reporter for Long Island News Tonight (LI News Tonight) a local Long Island college-run news station.
Tracy Wolfson: “I do a bunch, so I can pick my favorites, be able to put Michigan (she’s a UM grad) far whether I think they deserve to or not. I like Florida as a whole, I said that as the season went on, and I’m sticking with them to win it all.”
Tracy Wolfson: “I think it helps ratings, everyone wants to see a Cinderella story. They don’t like to be called Mid-Major, but that’s what makes the tournament fun, the teams not from power conferences. You got to change it up, you got to give the smaller schools their shot. I don’t think the committee should be allowed to change things for that reason, to give them more or less of a shot. They take everything into consideration, apparently, with their process. I don’t know why that bracket is loaded, but for me it’s great.
I feel like maybe we’ll wind up there in two weeks, and we’ll basically see a Final Four in Indianapolis before we get to Dallas.”
Tracy Wolfson: “everyone liked Michigan State earlier in the year too, and then the injuries happened and as Tom Izzo has made it clear, they’re gelling now. They’re getting back to playing their best basketball. They have seniors, young guys, they play well defensively, offensively, they can shoot the three. This would be the first senior class under Tom Izzo not have to made a Final Four, so that’s an extra incentive. I really like them, they could go very far.”
On what a joy it is to cover Tom Izzo…..
Tracy Wolfson: Michigan vs. Michigan State may be a rivalry, but it’s not a rivalry to me. I happen to love Tom Izzo. We always joke about how I’m from Michigan and he coaches for Michigan State. It would have been great for Michigan to win (the Big Ten title game), but I was by no means upset with the outcome. It’s very easy when you work around great coaches to that extent.
