Russell Wilson truly “says all the right things.”
If you work for a NFL team.
Every interview/press conference with him is beyond pointless and worthless. Wilson has PERFECTED the art of being boring and talking a lot without actually saying anything. He is doing his job VERY WELL.
Andrew Luck is decent at this. Peyton Manning is better. Tom Brady is the best….but maybe now he’s been supplanted by Russell Wilson. He’s taken the art of being boring by design to new heights.
It’s not just “giving a vanilla soundbite.” (“vanilla” is the politically correct word for “boring,” just like “knucklehead” is a P.C. word for “moron”)
At least Bill Belichick says very few words, and doesn’t waste your time. Wilson talks a lot, and says nothing.
You heard about all the discord in the Seahawks locker room. You heard one Seahawks player verify that what was being reported was pretty much the truth. Then you heard Russell Wilson say none of it was true.
That’s true leadership right there. (Leadership itself is also very boring). Wilson is what every NFL owner, GM, and ESPECIALLY the Media Relations department want. He’s the master of this mind-numbing corporatespeak.
Said Tony Gonzalez on The NFL Today: “I’ll tell you what the “Super Bowl hangover” is, it’s called a target. The media is now a target for you because they want to see you fall down. Every little thing that happens, they’re going to go out there and try to pick it apart. That’s what’s happening with Seattle right now.”
“Russell Wilson has taken the reins. He is the leader. He is the guy that you want,” said NFL Network’s Michael Robinson on if Russell Wilson is the leader of the Seattle Seahawks
