It’s been known for quite some time that the National Football League seeks a permanent team in London, and that Tottenham Hotspur football club seeks to provide that home. THFC’s White Hart Lane, in the midst of a major re-development and augmentation, aims to be that host.
The NFL, the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur have made public their aims to one day host American NFL football and English football on the same day, potentially next year.
Today saw NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell visit the new stadium joined by Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy, NFL Executive Vice-President Mark Waller, and Tottenham Executive Director Donna-Maria Cullen.
Here embedded in this post are some images of the visit and CGIs of the stadium.
Roger Goodell statement:
“The new Tottenham Hotspur stadium is clearly going to be a world-class venue. We are very pleased with how closely we have been able to work with the Club, and are optimistic that the broader regeneration plan will make for an extraordinary experience for NFL fans.”
Daniel Levy statement:
“It is always a pleasure to welcome the NFL to Tottenham and for them to see the vision that we share becoming a reality right in front of us. We have worked closely with them throughout this project and their involvement will play a significant part in helping us create one of the most compelling venues for sports and entertainment in the world, right here in Tottenham.”
The new White Hart Lane is garnering a lot of worldwide press coverage due to its ground-breaking and trail blazing high tech sliding pitch (go here for more on that). Spurs also released a new video of the sliding pitch today.
