Last week, Nike took the evolution of college football uniforms another quantum leap forward. The world’s leading sportswear concern unveiled its next generation of Nike Pro Combat uniforms and cleats that top collegiate teams University of Oregon, Boise State University, and University of Florida are expected to wear as they take the field in this season’s upcoming bowl games.
NFL players Ndamukong Suh (Detroit Lions), Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers), Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City Chiefs), Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys) and Steven Jackson (St. Louis Rams) were also on hand at iconic Cowboys Stadium (site of the next Super Bowl) to introduce the Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleat and the 2011 Nike Pro Combat uniforms to several hundred guests and media.
“NIKE, Inc. is the leading, most innovative football company in the world and the top choice of football athletes at every level,” said Kris Aman, Vice President of Athletic Training. “Our success is based on creating breakthrough products and experiences unmatched in our industry, helping write the next chapter for Nike Football.”
The event was MCed by Michigan Wolverines icon Desmond Howard. The current ESPN analyst is one of only four players to win both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP; Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, and Marcus Allen are the others.) Howard was famous for his “Heisman pose” in his final regular season at UM.

And since we’re on the topic of flashiness and a player known for ostentatious end zone celebrations, and we’re in Dallas…this is my all time favorite Nike/sportswear/football related commercial ever. It’s a blast from the past I’m sure you’ll enjoy:
