Since releasing her debut album in 2005, Carrie Underwood has sold over 15 million albums. “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is set to the original Joan Jett song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” From 2007-2012, the song was performed by music superstar Faith Hill and in 2006, the inaugural season of Sunday Night Football, Pink performed the open.
Thirteen NFL players will participate in the open with Carrie Underwood. View the list here.
When NBC made this move, it essentially seemed like they were trading one country star who crossed over into pop for another who was much much younger. Not that we’re complaining about getting to look at Carrie Underwood though.
