With the recent rise of the Wisconsin college football program the Badgers in the NFL have had a similar uptick.
More and more guys are beginning to have a splash in the league and the guys over at Pro Football Focus (PFF) have an eagle eye on each one of them. If you’re not familiar with PFF, you’re living in the stone age of modern football analysis. Here at The Sports Bank, we’re big supporters of what they do, so we’ve oriented our weekly check-up around what they’re saying about Badgers in the NFL.
It was a slow week for the Badgers in the NFL as Montee Ball and Russell Wilson were the only two to make notable splashes in week 8.
1.) Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball
Badgers Tenure: 2009-12
Week 8 Play: “Broncos rookie RB Montee Ball played a career-high 30 snaps grading at +0.9 as a runner and -1.2 in the passing game due to his third drop of the season.” – PFF’s Analysis of the Broncos 45-21 win over the Redskins.
2.) Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson
Badgers Tenure: 2011
Week 8 Play: “On the first play Tate and Russell Wilson took advantage of confusion at the line of scrimmage between Jenkins and Cortland Finnegan (with the coverage still being debated when the ball was snapped) to slip a slant to the goal line before Jenkins could get around the rub of Doug Baldwin to recover to the receiver.” – PFF’s Analysis of the Seahawks 14-9 win over the St. Louis Rams
– Dallas Cowboys C Travis Frederick (UW 2009-12) is still in the hunt for Rookie of the Year: “Still in the mix, but needs to up his game to get more spiel.” – PFF’s weekly feature Race for Rookie of the Year
