Dwyane Wade is the only current Chicago athlete on the 100 strong Forbes top earning athletes list, which was released earlier today. He isn’t the only athlete on the list with Chicago or even Chicago Bulls ties though. Long time former face of the Bulls franchise Derrick Rose checks in at #22 while native Chicagoan Anthony Davis is #44.

Basketball has the most dominant presence on the Forbes list, with a record 32 NBA players among the top 100, up from 18 in 2016.

The top ten is comprised of:

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Kevin Durant, Andrew Luck, Rory McIlroy, Stephen Curry, James Harden and Lewis Hamilton.

The NBA comprised 40% (4) of the top ten, 32% (8) of the top 25 and 34% (17 individuals) of the top 50. Dwyane Wade is worth approximately $95 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.com and his current Bulls contract, signed last summer, is worth $47,000,000 guaranteed. In 2016-17, Wade earned a base salary of $23,200,000, while the Bulls carried a cap hit of $23,200,000 and a dead cap value of $47,000,000, according to Spotrac.

The Forbes list of course, factors in all sources of athlete income, and those individuals with the most lucrative endorsement deals often place the highest.

The net worth of Derrick Rose, who was traded to the New York Knicks last summer, is estimated to be about $70 million.
