The Boston Celtics have officially hit ctrl+alt+delete. Ray Allen left last year. And now with the trades of Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics have completely dismantled their core. Boston added four future first round picks, the new regime means Danny Ainge is hitting the reset button. Hey, they had a nice run- a NBA title in 2008, another Eastern Conference championship. But the Boston Three Party are no more.
Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was asked by the media about the Celts being blown up. Coach Thibs was an assistant on the Boston Celtics title team and worked there for three years.
“Sort of sad. You hate to see it. And I hate to see them go to Brooklyn,” Thibodeau said.
“And that’s the NBA, it’s constant change. You have to be ready to adapt. It’s good for them, to continue on. Start the chance for rebuilding.”
The Boston Celtics get a pick in 2014 which will be a WAY BETTER AND DEEPER class than this season. However, they’re stuck with Gerald Wallace and his albatross contract- more than $30 million in guaranteed money over the next three years. Hard to rebuild with a major roadblock like that.
