The NBA trade wind are blowing strong on this chilly winter day. Apparently, the Orlando Magic are looking to blow up their overpaid and underachieving roster.
The deals, which could come today, involve Jason Richardson from the Phoenix Suns, and possibly a new, fresh start for Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards.
(UPDATE: via Pro Basketball Talk:)
The Orlando Magic have traded Vince Carter, Mikael Pietrus, and Marcin Gortat to the Phoenix Suns for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark. The Magic have also traded Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards for Gilbert Arenas.
Here’s more from NBA Fanhouse:
Magic are working toward a coupe of blockbuster deals that would bring them both Gilbert Arenas from Washington and Jason Richardson from Phoenix, according to NBA sources familiar with their plan.
Although many of the details remain unclear, they are hoping to send Vince Carter – in the last guaranteed year of his contract — to Phoenix, and Rashard Lewis to Washington.
It also would cost the Magic backup center Marcin Gortat going to Phoenix….Although Smith insisted that no deal was imminent Saturday morning, the trade of Arenas could come even before the Magic play the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night.
“Yes, we’re having conversations with a few teams right now,” Smith said Saturday morning after a Magic workout at the Amway Center. “We’re having conversations about Gilbert with Washington. On a scale of 1-10, I’d say it’s an eight.”
Hedo Turkoglu back to the Magic?
Here’s more what SB Nation Arizona is saying:
The Suns are close to making a block-buster three player deal that send JRich, Hedo and Earl Clark to Orlando for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mickael Peitrus.
And Hoops World, one of my favorite sites to go to on matters such as these, had this to say:
It is still unknown which player the Wizards would receive and while many think it will be Vince Carter, there is a growing belief that Rashard Lewis will be the Magic player dealt.
