Air travelers passing through Chicago O’Hare International Airport can now get a taste of the Friendly Confines and take a piece of Cubs history home to share with family and friends. The Chicago Cubs today unveiled the Cubs Bar & Grill, which is a licensing deal with HMSHost and the Chicago Department of Aviation.
The Cubs Bar & Grill, formerly the O’Hare Bar & Grill, is a customized sports bar in Terminal 3 of Chicago O’Hare International Airport that features a Cubs-themed breakfast menu served from 6-11 a.m. and lunch and dinner menu served until 9 p.m. Patrons may order items served at Wrigley Field, such as Vienna Beef Hot Dogs and the StanBurger, or choose from a variety of newly-created appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, classic and panini sandwiches, dinner entrées and desserts. More than 20 beer selections are offered at the bar, as well as a selection of cocktails and wines.
Travelers will easily identify the Cubs Bar & Grill with its replica Wrigley Field Marquee, Cubs memorabilia, framed autographed jerseys, photos of celebrity seventh inning stretch performers, classic magazine covers and other historic Cubs marks and logos. Guests will soon be able to purchase Cubs souvenirs at the restaurant’s retail kiosk, including authenticated game-used and autographed Cubs Authentics memorabilia.
“The Cubs are very excited to partner with HMSHost and the Chicago Department of Aviation to offer travelers a taste of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field at O’Hare International Airport,” said Wally Hayward, executive vice president, chief sales and marketing officer, Chicago Cubs. “The Cubs Bar & Grill will give travelers an opportunity to experience the Cubs brand even if they’re just passing through O’Hare to connect to another city.”
Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino welcomed the new addition to O’Hare. “We are very excited to officially welcome the Cubs Bar & Grill to O’Hare International Airport,” said Andolino. “Chicago’s airports provide the perfect opportunity to introduce our world-class city to visitors and help promote tourism. This new Cubs sports bar brings some of the fun, rich tradition, unique experience and iconic features of Wrigley Field to O’Hare for passengers to enjoy both during and after the baseball season. I know this restaurant is going to be a big hit with the millions of passengers from around the world who travel through Chicago’s global gateway.”
HMS Host said the Cubs Bar & Grill will bring another great offering to air travelers who are looking for more food choices. “HMSHost is very pleased to be joining our DBE partner and operator Efie’s Canteen Inc. to bring the Cubs Bar & Grill to travelers on their way through Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and to share with them such a popular local icon,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas.
The Cubs Bar & Grill opened for today and hosted a grand opening ceremony featuring representatives of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Department of Aviation, HMSHost and Efie’s Canteen Inc.
