It hasn’t been the best offseason for Michigan State basketball. First the troubled Chris Allen, who had been in and out of Coach Tom Izzo‘s doghouse, was kicked off the team. And now backup point guard Korie Lucious, who became a star in his own right during March madness faces a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Kalin Lucas will be running the point again in East Lansing, but if he goes down with an injury again, Lucious will be a key player.
According to the AP
The 20-year-old guard was pulled over early Monday near campus and
his blood-alcohol level was 0.09 percent.
He has 10 days to be arraigned and hadn’t as of mid-afternoon Tuesday.
Michigan State spokesman John Lewandowski says the school knows of
the ticket and is gathering information.
Lucious made a game-winning, 3-point shot to lift the Spartans into
the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament last season and helped them
advance to the Final Four. The Milwaukee native was suspended for a game
last season for missing class.
He’s expected to be a key player this season as a junior on a team
expected to be one of the nation’s best.
