Sir Alex Ferguson will always cast a shadow over Old Trafford. His unparalleled success earned the naming of “Sir Alex Ferguson Stand” at the Theatre of Dreams. Which says everything you need to know. Obviously the transition to David Moyes has been extremely rocky to say the least. And having Sir Alex Ferguson showing up all the time in stands is just a constant reminder of the way things were for Manchester United. Just last year.
Quite a contrast to the way things are now.
Fox Sports football analysts Brian McBride, Warren Barton and Eric Wynalda discussed what a horrible few weeks United manager David Moyes has had and how the recent poor run of results:
Barton, a former English Premier League player with Newcastle United on Moyes feeling the pressure:
“Being at Manchester United comes with added pressure. Not only do you have Sir Alex Ferguson over your shoulder, but if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next year, it becomes about the money they will lose because it is a business. Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t help being in the shadow. Go away for a little while and let Moyes get on with the job. It’s not about just winning at Manchester United, it’s about winning in style. I’ve never known a Manchester United without confidence and right now they are just going down. Moyes needs to have a go at someone or show some anger.”
Wow very strong words from the Londoner on Sir Alex Ferguson. Of course, the defending champions are now currently mid-table, so this is certainly the time for heated rhetoric.
