It all started with the New Jersey Nets‘ Deron Williams declaring that he would play in Turkey if the NBA lockout continues. Then more dominoes fell, and the next one could be the Los Angeles Clippers‘ Brian Cook, like Williams, an ex-Illini.
No, this is not the Brian Cook of MGoBlog fame, the well known Michigan Wolverines fan site.
“Cookie,” a NBA veteran of the Lakers, Magic and Rockets, has one year left on his deal with the Clips.
“I got a decision to make, I may stay here or I may go overseas. I’m kind of torn between the two,” Cook told the media after the Illinois basketball alumni game last night.
“I’m looking into China right now, we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
Why China?
“I like their fan support, the basketball league in China has millions and millions of people who love to watch basketball. It’s another chance for me to be able to take care of my family, to be honest with you. My three sons, I got little kids, my wife- that’s what I’m all about,” he answered.
What made this quote/interview even better was that he said this while holding one of his children, and his wife (Victoria Velazquez) married in 2009 standing beside him.
