In case you were wondering, the Team USA Hockey team is really good.
Facing a solid Slovakian team, the U.S. put on a show that included a six goal second period en route to a 7-1 thrashing of Team Slovakia. Canadian-born traitor Paul Stastny potted two goals for Team USA Hockey.
World Junior American hero John Carlson set the tone in the first with a rocket one-timer goal. Patrick Kane made Dustin Brown and Ryan Kesler’s days easy with precision passing, leading to goals for both.
Slovakia’s Tomas Tatar scored the only goal for his team in what was a relative no-show for a team capable of making some noise in the round-robin tournament.
Jonathan Quick played well in net for Team USA Hockey. He had to make some A+ saves in the game, but was afforded the chance to enjoy the puck possession show put on by his American teammates.
The Americans play Russia next this Saturday at 7:30 AM EST. Russia had some trouble in a 5-2 victory over a very bad Slovenian team. Laying an egg for two periods like the Russians did today could lead to a U.S. victory this weekend.
