Tim Sherwood leveled with his own fans today, and you have to respect his honesty. Chelsea moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after sinking Tottenham Hotspur with four second-half goals. After Spurs went down 4-0, extending the Spurs run of misery at Stamford Bridge, Tim Sherwood was brutally honest about his side’s Champions League chances.
“Everyone is talking about 4th, everyone at the club talks about 4th. Wake up.”
Spurs fans, your own manager says you need to ‘Wake Up’ from dreamland, here in the video below.
I would tend to disagree. With 53 points, they’re only four points behind 4th place Manchester City who have accumulated 57 points.
More Tim Sherwood soundbites after the loss.
Q: “Is the lack of character harder to take than result?”
Tim Sherwood: “It is for me. It hurts me, it hurts. I ain’t gonna forget about this.”
And this is really unfortunate given the relaxed attitude Tim Sherwood tried to instill in his players heading into the London Derby. He truly said all the right things beforehand in an effort to get his players to play loose.
