Not sure why the opinion of Tim Sherwood is really considered news given how his career has panned out lately, but here we go. As you recall Sherwood’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur didn’t go so well. After he was sacked by White Hart Lane, he took over Aston Villa and then ran them into the ground.
The Villans are destined for relegation and Sherwood was sacked by AVFC in October.
As Tottenham Hotspur are set to host Manchester United tomorrow, there’s once again talk of United’s interest in acquiring Spurs franchise cornerstone Harry Kane, the Premier League’s leading scorer. It’s a very unrealistic transfer rumor, but it’s one that nonetheless never seems to ever go away.
Tim Sherwood, who saw Harry Kane rise under his tenure, gave his two cents on the Kane to United narrative. He told the Daily Express:
‘Why would he want to leave? Why would anybody? Spurs are the club to be at.”
‘They have the best training ground in the league and they are building a new stadium for a group of great young players, the nucleus of which are English.”
‘They are playing with a great identity. They are young and moving forward. What I love about Mauricio Pochettino is he does not pick players on reputation or price tags. It is based on what people are doing in training.’
So there you go Tim Sherwood with a lot of praise for both his former employer, and Pochettino, the man who replaced him.
