When will we see Mauricio Pochettino make his first big name signing since taking over at White Hart Lane? Well, monitoring the Tottenham transfer gossip, it seems quite soon. And it will be in the form of Ben Davies.
Tottenham made a £6 million move for the Swansea and Wales left-back after Mauricio Pochettino gave the go-ahead for an opening bid, claimed the Daily Mail at the beginning of the month. It was reported that the two clubs agreed on a fee for Ben Davies, and that an announcement would come once personal terms have been agreed.
The Mirror says that a deal could be close:
Spurs are set to agree the £8 million fee today and then hope for the nod from the defender they have been chasing for weeks.
The 21-year-old was swaying towards a move to Merseyside and the chance of Champions League football this season.
But Spurs are now willing to bid more and meet Swansea’s demand for a guaranteed £8 million fee.
The 21-year-old Welsh international is believed to have been swayed by the promise of guaranteed first team football at White Hart Lane
