Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid for quite some time (his teammate Eden Hazard as well), but today it’s a different club eliciting transfer rumors. French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, who have been spending money in the transfer market like a drunken sailor lately, is the club being linked to the stellar Belgian.
“Paris Saint-Germain have made Thibaut Courtois aware of their interest in signing him and the Chelsea goalkeeper is open to their advances, a source close to the club.”
“According to the source, the Ligue 1 leaders’ sporting director, Antero Henrique, has made signing a new goalkeeper a priority for next season — along with a long-term heir to Thiago Motta’s deep-lying midfield role — because Alphonse Areola, Kevin Trapp and Lassana Diarra have not yet convinced him that they deserve to be guaranteed members of the starting XI.”
Real Madrid, at least theoretically, have the inside track over PSG when it comes to signing Courtois, due to the goalkeeper’s family connections in the Spanish capital. He has two children who currently live in Madrid with his ex-girlfriend. During the season, he simply doesn’t get to see them very much. Courtois gave a revealing interview, in which he opened up about his future and said “my heart is in Madrid.”
Courtois might be ready to move on from Chelsea, as he has hit out at the fans at Stamford Bridge already this season. He’s yet to commit to a new deal with the west London club, and the ESPN FC report says that informal talks have already been held between Courtois’ camp and PSG. Perhaps Hazard may one day ultimately join Thibaut Courtois in Paris, as the forward himself has also been linked with a move to the Ligue 1 powerhouse.
