Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will get a very expensive fine and a touchline ban for headbutting Hull City midfielder David Meyler during his side’s 4-1 win on Saturday. The Newcastle United boss was of course kicked out of the game, as he should have been.
Check out the video of Pardew below: (And watch the Sky Sports News announcers go nuts)
Referee Kevin Friend evicted Pardew in the 72nd minute of the Premier League match. The Newcastle United manager objected to being moved out of the way by Meyler, who was also penalized for his role, as he retrieved the ball for a throw-in. Pardew responded to the slight contact with escalation, headbutting him.
Pardew told Sky Sports News afterwards: “It was a heat of the moment thing – I massively regret it. I think I’m going to sit down now because that’s two or three incidents I’ve been involved in. I think I’m going to sit now. I didn’t meant to do anything aggressive but I moved my head forward and that’s enough. It’s a shame because it took the gloss off a fantastic performance from us. That’s really upsetting.”
