Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has suffered an unspecified injury, and thus withdrawn from the Serbian National Team this international break. The 30-year-old will not participate in Serbia’s UEFA Nations League clashes against Montenegro and Romania, and thus is a doubt for October 20, when United play at his former club, Chelsea.
Given that the injury is unspecified, the severity of it is unknown at this time, as is any potential time table for return.
United are really struggling right now and could really use all hands on deck for what will be one of the biggest and most emotional games of the season. Chelsea are currently level on points with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of table. They will be heavily favored over the mid-table Red Devils.
In addition to Nemanja Matic, manager Jose Mourinho could be without the services of Luke Shaw as well. The left back suffered a knock against Newcastle and pulled out of the England squad.
