It took awhile for Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho to drop forward Wayne Rooney. That’s understandable; as you can’t just come right in at a new club and demote the franchise icon and living legend. However, Rooney got a position switch, and then a place on the bench.
It was well deserved as Wayne Rooney has seen a massive drop in form, and a huge backlash against him by the fan base.
There just doesn’t seem to be a place for Rooney in this current United side, and it seems like he could potentially waste away on the bench as the season goes along. The United Captain is also skipper of the England National Team, and this fall he’s likewise seen his status with that side diminish.
Three Lions have dropped him to the bench too.
What’s the “logical next step,” proverbially for Wayne Rooney? Via the self-ascribed “world wide leader.”
Jose Mourinho is open to selling Wayne Rooney, sources have told ESPN FC, as the Manchester United manager plans to continue an overhaul of the squad in the wake of a chaotic start to the season.
The Beyond the Pitch podcast had reported on Monday night that Mourinho — who denied that he wanted to sell Rooney on Sunday — has told the 31-year-old’s agent he will have to leave to secure regular football, and ESPN FC sources have said the Portuguese would welcome the funds to refresh his squad.
Then the logical next step is asking the question “where would you send Rooney?” The best destinations for him, at least from a financial stand point, are the Chinese Super League and American Major League Soccer. Wayne Rooney would be a dominant player in either league.
