As we recover from the chaos of Sunday (you may have heard a thing or two about what happened at Old Trafford this past weekend), it’s match time again. It was expected by some that Manchester United would field a weakened team today, given that a.) they could use the rest for the FA Cup Final on Saturday, which does have a lot of meaning and b.) there’s no longer anything to play for here in this one.
Not so, as Manager Louis van Gaal decided to keep the same exact first team that he announced two days ago for the match originally.
The only way Manchester City can be passed up by United is if they win by at least 19 goals today. That is the only way the Red Devils can obtain fourth place and qualify for the UEFA Champions League. In other words, no.
City will finish ahead of United yet again this season, meaning that Manuel Pellegrini will finish his career with the Citizens having finished above the red side of Manchester in every single season! Yikes!
Here’s the link to the injury report, for both sides, as well at the match odds.
Here’s the lineup that Van Gaal decided to go with, his strong team/first team.
