Former Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has lit into Mino Raiola, the agent of Paul Pogba, and he’s done so in a very obscene manner. Raiola, considered one of the game’s most powerful super-agents, is the main man behind making the #Pogback record breaking transfer fee happen. It was the first time United had broken the global transfer record, and the 13th instance that they eclipsed the British benchmark.
It also helped Mino Raiola obtain Al Capone’s old Miami mansion. Sir Alex however, is no fan of Raiola, and his distaste for him has been around long before #Pogback cost the club ยฃ89.3 million ($115 million).
Fergie called Raiola “a shitbag” while delivering a speech to rugby union club Sale Sharks. South African prop Brian Mujati asked the following question during the speech:
Sir Alex, with all this coaching and analysis, why was no one able to acknowledge the undeniable talent that is Paul Pogba?”
“Why was no one able to identify that Paul Pogba was going to be a ยฃ100 million player?”
Ferguson replied: “Paul Pogba? He had a bad agent. A shitbag. Paul Pogba was well known to us. We knew he was a good player. He’s still a good player. We offered him the best contract…” (transcription and hat tip to the Daily Mirror)
Ferguson has long had a very strong disliking for Mino Raiola, blaming him for Pogba’s leaving the club in 2012. The legendary former manager stated in his book that there were some agents he just didn’t like and you can guess who one of those agents were. Ferguson has also said that his relationship with Raiola was like oil and water.
Mino Raiola has returned fire in the past, and you can best believe he will do so again in the future.
