No Premier League actions this week, due to the international break, but it’s official now that Manchester United will get all of their new players on the field in their next game (a week from Sunday, on September 14th at home versus Queens Park Rangers). Man United’s official social media has said that Radmel Falcao will play. As will Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo.
Yes, even Rojo; so apparently his work permit/visa issues are resolved.
Falcao’s father claims that the striker wanted to be dealt to Real Madrid, but that obviously fell through. He also claims that his son was pursued by Arsenal this transfer window. And the Daily Mail has a couple gossip pages items today on Falcao:
-Robin van Persie has rubbished claims that his knee problems prompted Manchester United to sign Radamel Falcao.
-Wayne Rooney says the signing of Radamel Falcao is a statement of Manchester United’s intent but admitted he does not know his role in the team
So what will Man United do with their six new buys: Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao? How will Louis van Gaal fit everybody in?
How will the new Man United starting XI take shape? Here’s one projection of the starting lineup. And here’s a video of Radamel Falcao coming to Old Trafford.
As I wrote on September 2nd, United led all the big spenders this summer with £199 million this window. Arsenal is second at £113m, so the Premier League took the top two slots. La Liga giant Barcelona was third at £100m, with Liverpool coming in fourth at 77 million pounds. So the PL took in three of the top four spots in Europe this summer. Beginning
