This New Year’s Eve Manchester United gave us “A Knight’s Tale.” No, tonight’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough didn’t involve prose from Geoffrey Chaucer, or acting from Heath Ledger, but instead the magic of Sir Alex Ferguson. Fitting too as today was Fergie’s 75th birthday.
It was the kind of resilient come from behind victory that would really make former manager Sir Alex proud. It was truly “Fergie Time” when Anthony Martial equalized in the 85′.

Manchester United supporters were no doubt biting their nails With Red Devils trailing up to that point. Although Martial’s scoring strike reduced some of the anxiety, there was the very stark reality that United could drop points from this one.
However, just seconds later, Paul Pogba nailed home another goal, in the 86′, and this one which would prove to ultimately be decisive.

Although the opponent wasn’t anything special, and it wasn’t too dominant a performance, this is still among the biggest wins/games of the year for United. That’s because they did it with style and panache. It was a “Fergie Time” kind of victory at the Theatre of Dreams.
