With the signing of Matteo Darmian from Torino, the back line at Manchester United improved significantly. His addition also forced Rafael out the door; with the Brazillian finding a home at Lyon.
Darmian has definitely looked good in these first two games for United. Both his play and his style are drawing praise from United fans.
However, he totally got away with one tonight. Of course, it’s not cheating if it doesn’t get called.

We’re still trying to locate the video, but if you watched the game, it was pretty obvious that this horse collar, choke hold, neck grabbing motion on Aston Villa’s Micah Richards should have resulted in a penalty kick for the Villans.
That’s not to diminish the fantastic game that Darmian had today. He also defended Richards with a brilliant and totally clean maneuver during a corner kick. Take a look:

Matteo Darmian did the old “hey, you’ve got something on your face, right there” bit, and Richards fell for it, hook line and sinker.
