Barcelona seems to have an edge over Manchester United for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels; according to reports in Germany. It looks likely that Mats Hummels will be in the middle of a transfer window triangle come wintertime in January.
Mats Hummels has said in the past that he is a fan of Barca, saying: “Barca is one of the clubs that would interest me.”
Dortmund is lining up FC Basel’s Fabian Schar as a replacement for Mats Hummels.
United is looking at the defender Hummels as a long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand. Barcelona’s interest in Mats Hummels is due to their aim of finding a defender to replace the aging and injury prone Carles Puyol. Of course, Hummels very well may stay at Dortmund.
“My father and I would turn down about 99.9 per cent of all the clubs in the world if they approached us,” Mats Hummels told German publication Sport Bild.
