It was another very disappointing season at Manchester United, an occurrence that is becoming all too common under the Ed Woodward regime. And by the brutally honest assessment of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, next season might not be a whole lot better.
This rebuild could take some time, and that means a summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings. And with Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already, it’s time for some United transfer talk.
We start with Sky Sports, who report that United are interested in Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, and have made initial overtures regarding the 21-year-old. However, it appears the Tyneside club is not interested in parting ways with him.
Sources have insisted he is not for sale, per The Chronicle (h/t Mirror).
Next we move on to Monaco midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, a 16-year-old that United have reportedly made an offer for. The teenager is ready to move on to another club, and the Daily Mail indicates that United will have potential competition for his services, in the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Elsewhere, the long term future of David De Gea at United remains in question and Paris Saint-Germain is the club that typically comes up first on the list of potential suitors. Well, it used the beat Real Madrid, but now it’s the French champions.
However, according to AS, PSG’s top goalkeeping target is the French No. 1 and Tottenham Hotspur team captain Hugo Lloris, not De Gea.
Finally, UEFA Champions League semifinalists Ajax have confirmed that Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech is set to leave the club, thus providing a transfer boost to Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
