Sky Sports personality and Manchester native Kate Abdo will now join FOX Sports to serve as a studio host for the network’s soccer/portfolio. This comes on the heels of her “loan move” from Sky to FOX (two companies who are in partnership with one another) for the broadcast of the Women’s World Cup 2015 in Canada that summer.
Now today FOX announced it’s a “permanent deal” instead of a “loan move.”
Abdo serves as host for a multitude of soccer shows and events including Bundesliga, FA Cup, Europa League, 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Abdo will basically be doing a lot of the same things that Julie Stewart-Binks did at FOX before JSB left for ESPN.
Kate Abdo has also hosted Sky Sports’ coverage of the Premier League’s Deadline Day (wearing yellow all day on those days for some reason…Kate Abdo often likes to wear yellow on camera, but hey don’t we all?) and European soccer coverage including the UEFA European Qualifiers and Coppa Italia.
She grew up supporting the Red Devils with her Dad, but her mom is a Liverpool supporter.

Bleacher Report: Who do you support?
Kate Abdo: I grew up in Manchester going to Old Trafford with my dad. I got to go when he didn’t give the ticket to my brother! My mum is a Liverpool fan, so unsurprisingly she chose not to join us.
She joined CNN in 2009, where she covered the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa among many other events. She moved to Sky Sports in the UK in 2014.
“Kate Abdo is one of the most respected journalists in the business, and we are delighted to welcome her to the FOX Sports family,” reads a statement from FOX Sports President John Entz.
“Her vast experience and global knowledge will add tremendous value to our outstanding soccer roster, which now includes two of the most accomplished soccer hosts in this country in Kate and Rob Stone.”
“I’m extremely excited to relocate to Los Angeles to be a permanent part of the FOX Sports team,” the statement from Kate Abdo reads.
“I love the energy and professionalism with which FOX Sports covers soccer, and their commitment to the game is second to none.”
“From my past experience in Vancouver, I know first hand I’ll have a fantastic team around me; I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals.”
