The last time the L.A. Galaxy hosted Manchester United, it was at the Rose Bowl in 2014 and the Red Devils won 7-0. The match, which was actually even more lopsided than that score indicates, was part of the famous Louis van Gaal undefeated United preseason. It was also a preseason friendly where United, not the Galaxy, had the true home field advantage in terms of support from the crowd.
So the Galaxy had a lot to avenge tonight, in their first meeting since that blowout three years ago and it started with their mascot, Cozmo. He came to bring the pain tonight, with some first rate trolling.
Cozmo apparently got to the world’s most expensive player, United midfielder Paul Pogba, who didn’t seem to like his sign which read “it’s called soccer.”

United won the exhibition contest 5-2, in a match that was again, much more lopsided than the final score would indicate. However, Gozmo won the battle of mascots over Fred, and maybe also won the mascot MVP award for the entire season, with this heroic effort tonight.
