The rebuild of Manchester United could definitely take some time, so get ready and dig your heels in for that. The upshot is that we’ll have a summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings.
And with Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already, the time is right for some Red Devils transfer talk on this lovely Saturday. We are still awaiting the very first addition this summer transfer window, but according to the local paper of record, it may not be much longer until that deal is complete.
The Manchester Evening News claims that Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes could see his move to Old Trafford completed as soon as next week. Portuguese newspaper A Bola, via SportWitness, says that United are ahead of their crosstown rivals in the quest to land the 24-year-old.
With Ander Herrera set to move on a free, an uncertain future for Juan Mata and consistent transfer rumors swirling about Paul Pogba, United could soon find themselves in a real need for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Elsewhere, Napoli right back Elseid Hysaj says he wants to leave the club this summer, and that puts both United and Chelsea on alert, as both of the Premier League giants are interested according to talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old has become a fringe player under Carlo Ancelotti, and he wants a move away in order to “win something.”
“I’m absolutely ready for a new challenge because I need change,” he told DigitAlb.“I’m not the type of person who likes to stay at a club for too long.”
“I want to have new experiences, learn about a new country, meet new people, play for another team and maybe try to win something.
“For me, my time at Napoli is over and I hope to find a team that will give me what I need.”
Perhaps the defender can provide the type of upgrade that United sorely need at the right back position.
For the final item we turn from Italy to France, with the Daily Mirror picking up on French reports surrounding Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, who was previously been linked with Manchester United. It turns out that United will have some competition from Arsenal in the race to sign Meunier.
The reports state that Gunners boss Unai Emery has been in contact with PSG over a potential acquisition, and that the Spaniard’s days in charge at PSG may serve in giving him an inside track in the battle to sign Meunier.
After all, in every single line of work, it is all about who you know more so than anything else.
