Manchester United had offered £30 million and bonuses for Kevin Strootman, according to Roma Newspaper Il Tempo in June. Strootman is a Dutch international footballer who has been out of action for awhile. Numerous publications list Strootman as Old Trafford’s top priority for the January transfer window.

United are waiting for the winter window for a whole host of reasons, primarily to see his fitness, before investing the money in him. The Italian Serie A club Roma midfielder is an old friend of Louis van Gaal and if it weren’t for his injury, perhaps he would have played under LVG on the Holland National Team at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this past summer.
It would be interesting to see how Strootman would fit into Van Gaal’s diamond formation.
