As was revealed a couple weeks ago, Manchester United are exploring the possibilities of playing international friendlies DURING the season! This unconventional idea is required in order to fill the midweek void left by the absence of Champions League this season and the early League Cup exit. Missing out on revenue from UEFA Champions League, and the absence of a chance to develop the youth in the League Cup has created this need.
Today we know the location and the approximate date of where these friendlies will be held: The Middle East
In the words of the legendary British rockers The Clash, it’s time to “Rock the Casbah.”
The January friendly will more than likely take place in the Middle East, on a date where United would have been playing in the Capital One Cup. Louis van Gaal is on board as he agrees with Ed Woodward that this friendly is a good idea
