Ever since the Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United deal was announced, one couldn’t help but wonder how he will fit in the attack. His place is obviously secure, but what about the other strikers on the roster? Who will lose playing time?
In theory, one can see Ibra gelling well with Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney in the attack, but only if Rooney would be playing further way from goal.
Now given what Mourinho said about Rooney today, that he will not playing at all in a midfield role, you have to wonder how Zlatan and Rooney will co-exist.
Perhaps an even bigger question mark is Marcus Rashford; where’s his place? Then you consider another attacking player, Henrik Mkitaryan is on his way. How will Manager Jose Mourinho find a spot for all in the attacking third in roles that will keep everybody happy. This will all be interesting to watch.
In an MUTV interview, Mourinho said the 18-year-old Rashford and 34-year-old Ibrahimovic will indeed work together: “Thirty-four plus 18, divided by two, is the perfect age for a football player. So our two strikers are exactly in the perfect age, because 18 is not the perfect age, 34 is not. So I think they can be an amazing complement for each other.”
