The signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger is being rightfully heralded for many reasons. Not only is he a first class midfielder, he a tremendous sense of humor to boot. The Captain of the reigning World Cup Champion German National Team is a funny guy, and Mirror has a great post with seven videos that spotlight his comedic side.
Schweinsteiger was promised guaranteed first-team football before he made his £15 million move, and when he arrived, he then joked about how proud he was to become the first “Kraut” to play for the Reds.
Schweinsteiger said: “It’s a big honor. I just joked a little bit with Wayne that I’m the first – I think you call the Germans ‘Kraut’ – Is it true? Yes?
“So I said to him, ‘I’m the first one here!’ It’s a big honor to be the first German player here, in the first-team, and it’s a great feeling.”
He should be feeling great; especially so when he looks at this salary. The Daily Star says that Schweinsteiger will become the highest-paid midfielder in Premier League history earning a staggering £13 million a season. Now wonder Louis van Gaal described the Die Mannschaft skipper as “the ultimate professional.”
Bastian Schweinsteiger ‘s sense of humor and grounded personality will no doubt be beneficial to the United dressing room. His leadership skills will add to the team in ways that don’t objectively show up in the score sheet.
