Amidst all the swirling reports of discord surrounding all things Manchester United these days, midfielder Fred paints a picture of peace and harmony. There is a regular buffet of rifts being widely reported in recent days around the club.
There’s defender Eric Bailly versus pundits Grame Souness and Gary Neville, Manager Jose Mourinho versus the media (at least more so than the usual), Mourinho vs. Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward, Woodward versus a small but extremely zealous group of fans, Mourinho versus midfielder Paul Pogba and Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent versus club legend Paul Scholes.
Got all that?
Of course, this will all go away if and when United start winning again, because that is the one thing that cures all- winning. In the mean time, Fred said that he enjoys the fact that he’s currently working under Mourinho and that he hopes to continue doing so in the future. Fred praised the Portugese in an interview with Sky Sports.
“I’m really happy to be working with Jose Mourinho, he’s a great person and he’s always keen to communicate with the squad and help people to be communicative regarding what they’re to do on the pitch,” the Brazilian said.
“I’m really happy to be working with him and I hope that I’ll be working for him for a while to come.”
Fred also discussed the adapting he’s had to do to a foreign language and culture in England, and that adaptation has been helped by his manager and a country man.
“There are lots of Brazilians in the Premier League but most are playing against us,” he added.
“Here I’ve got Andreas [Pereira] who is here at Manchester United, who has helped me a lot and been important to me and, obviously, Jose Mourinho speaks the same language. I’ve been adapting here with my team-mates at Manchester United and, yes, this has helped a lot.”
Mourinho did say in the spring that he wanted at least one Brazilian on his team, and this summer transfer window he got one. At the time of course, people interpreted his comments to mean that Willian is/was on his way.
