Former MUTV presenter Hayleyย McQueen has started to successfully raise awareness for The Football Foundation, after recently becoming its ambassador. The Football Foundation is the UKโs largest sports charity, developing better grassroots sport facilities using money from the Premier League, The FA and the government, via Sport England.
When asked about her new endeavors, the Sky Sports presenter stated:
โIโm delighted to become an Ambassador for the Football Foundation. It does such an important job in helping schools and clubs to provide safe and comfortable places for more people to play sport. I know how playing football and other sports can help people, especially youngsters, build their self-esteem, stay healthy and learn valuable life skills, like team-work and good communication.โ
You might recognize Hayley McQueen from the insanely viral video that went absolutely everywhere. When Louis van Gaal gave a speech fueled by emotion (and obviously a lot of wine too) during the Manchester United end of year awards program. You can watch that here at this link.
Hayley McQueen also went on to say regarding her commendation:
โI also know from my experience at Middlesbrough FC and Manchester United the fantastic work that professional football clubsโ Foundations and Trusts do for local communities. I love the way the Football Foundation looks to encourage that great work at the sites it develops where appropriate.โ
Daughter of Boroโs former European scout and Manchester United player (1978-1985)ย Gordon McQueen, Hayley has worked in football for the past 12 years both behind and in front of the camera. Her work includes anchoring live programs from the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup and Champions League and being the launch presenter for Sportswomen on Sky Sports, a weekly show dedicated to women in sport.
Rory Carroll, head of communications at the Football Foundation, expressed a warm welcome to McQueen adding:
โWe are thrilled to welcome Hayley on board as a Football Foundation Ambassador. She is such a popular figure and a brilliant communicator. Having someone with her profile and her passion for the game is invaluable for a charity like us.โ
