There haven’t been a ton of Manchester United transfer rumors discussed in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world this window, and a lot of it has to do with the blockbuster summer transfer window they had. Most of the Man United transfer rumors this January have pertained to players that could be leaving (Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin etc.) more than arrivals.
The comments made by United manager Jose Mourinho imply that this could be a very quiet winter transfer window, but Red Devils defender Eric Bailly hopes that’s not the case.
The Ivory Coast defender recently left the team for international duty in the Africa Cup of Nations, but he hopes that he’ll get to play alongside Victor Lindelof when he returns.
According to Four Four Two, Lindelof is reportedly set to join United soon. The outlet also quotes what Eric Bailly had to say about Lindelof in the Swedish media.
“I hope to play with him. Hopefully he will help us,” Bailly told Fotbollskanalen after his nation’s 2-1 win over Sweden in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.”
“He is a very good player. He has great qualities and will certainly do well if he comes to us.”
“We have many good central defenders – Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones – but I hope I get to play with Lindelof.”
“I don’t have a guaranteed place and I know I have to be good to play. We’re all fighting to play. I think we have done well. We have done our best.
“The day we get to play, if it comes, we must take advantage of that opportunity. I think we would fit well together.”
