It’s international break, and there’s only so much you can cover regarding injury news, so it’s time to talk Manchester United transfer rumors. Let’s take a spin through the internet and see what’s buzzing.
–Danny Rose leaving Tottenham Hotspur is a narrative that’s not going away any time soon, as his refreshingly blunt, but also overly critical, assessment of the team’s transfer practices, up to that point anyway, put him potentially on the trading block. He was somewhat linked with a move to United over the summer, but obviously that didn’t happen.
How about in the future? Well, ESPN FC rates the realism of a few transfer rumors, and they gave Danny Rose to Old Trafford a 3.2/5. The publication writes that: “United boss Jose Mourinho is thought to be keen on signing a quality left-back, with doubts remaining over the long-term future of Luke Shaw.”
-Will United get their man Ivan Perisic next time, after failing to close the deal this past summer? His £54 million (totally chicken feed to Old Trafford) release clause kicks in next summer, and according to the Daily Mail, United have not given up ton obtaining the Inter Milan winger. The British publication bases their article on a report in the Italian media, and writes that:
“It was one of the lengthiest transfer sagas of the summer as United tried and failed to get their man, instead opting to focus their attentions elsewhere.
Perisic signed a new Inter Milan contract in the process, but Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the 28-year-old has a get-out clause if he wants it.”
Elsewhere, United are reportedly trying to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, who is also wanted by Juventus. Brendan Rodgers didn’t do a whole lot right with his transfer business during his time at Anfield, but if Can sparks a bidding war, then the German might yield a very nice profit for Liverpool on their investment at least.
TalkSPORT points out that “The 23-year-old is still yet to agree fresh terms at Anfield and his future has been thrown into doubt. Juventus were in hot pursuit of the Germany international during the summer and were expected to rekindle their interest in January.
“However, according to the Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United could turn their attentions towards Can and scupper Juve’s chances of signing him.”
It’s another story angle to add a little more spice to their meeting a week from today.
