It looked like another title was in the works for Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United this postseason, but now it could all be slipping away.
Vincent Kompany’s header made all the difference in a 1-0 win for Manchester City over title rival Manchester United Monday. Roberto Mancini’s steam is now just two victories away from capturing the English Premier League championship.
From Reuters via Chicago Tribune:
United could not respond as City moved above their neighbors on goal difference with a match at Newcastle United and a home game with struggling Queen Park Rangers to come.
Both sides have 83 points but the momentum is now with City, which has clawed back from an eight-point deficit since Easter to move within sight of its first English title since 1968.
