Manchester City, just a couple hours ago, made an announcement regarding the fitness of their only summer transfer window signing so far, Riyad Mahrez.
The winger is back in training, and is in a state of full match fitness after his having picked up a left ankle knock in a friendly against Bayern Munich on Saturday night in Miami.
The 2015-16 PFA Player of the Year was seen wearing a protective boot on his foot upon his return to Manchester, but no worries City supporters, he’s good to go. The club’s website released a statement, which including the following information:
“a scan today has revealed no significant damage, and he could be available for selection for this weekend’s Community Shield against Chelsea.”
City have concluded their three city preseason tour of the United States, having completed all their International Champions Cup matches.
Riyad Mahrez and the rest of his City teammates begin their Premier League title defense at Arsenal August 12.
