It promises to continue being a very exciting summer transfer window at Manchester United, with plenty of comings and goings. Who will be the next to join Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant as new arrivals this summer?
Who will be heading out the Old Trafford door? Let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet today. As always, until it’s actually an officially done deal, take the rumors with a grain of salt.
The last couple weeks of the summer transfer window have been really disheartening for United fans as manager Jose Mourinho has seemed rather despondent in recent media availabilities. Mourinho has said that he wants two more signings this summer, but he’s also admitted concern that Old Trafford will not make their transfer targets this summer.
-The Manchester United midfield overhaul, according to some claims, could potentially continue with the addition of Bayern Munich man Thiago Alcantara.
Or so it would seem, as the Bavarian giants actually have no interest in selling the Spaniard, who has also been linked to Chelsea and Barcelona this summer. That’s according to Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“Thiago is an important player for us and we have never once articulated the thought that he should leave the club,” he told Abendzeitung. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“There has never been anything to the story whatsoever.”
-In sticking with Bayern midfielders, and on insights from the Bavarian giants’ Chief Executive Officer, Rummenigge said that Arturo Vidal is free to leave the club, should he so desire.
“Arturo is known to have another one year contract with us,” said the Bayern Chief.
“And if he possibly wants to sign up for a club longer, he will deal with it. “We will not act from our side. If he comes to us and he wants to leave the club, we will deal with it.”
Yes, Arturo Vidal, the incessant and persistent transfer narrative of August 2014, a saga that broke the internet in many ways, is now back then has now returned to the back pages as he’s currently in the final year of his contract, and reportedly wanted by several teams, including United.
Both Milan clubs, as well as Atletico Madrid, are said to be interested in acquiring his services.
-Finally, Leicester City centre-back was very impressive for England during their final four run at the World Cup this summer. He certainly fits an area of definitive need for United as well.
Today the Daily Mail claim that Maguire truly believes he will be leaving the Foxes and coming to Old Trafford Red before the transfer window shuts on August 9.
