The offseason has now arrived for Manchester united, as the Red Devils won’t be reunited again until training camp in July. However, it’s going to be a very busy summer, and certainly an exciting transfer window at Old Trafford, with a whole lot of topics to discuss.
Today is another active news day, so let’s take a spin through the headlines.
Spain national team manager Julen Lopetegui gave a public vote of confidence to goalkeeper David De Gea after the United #1 made a bad gaffe that cost La Roja dearly in their friendly against Switzerland. Spain had to settle for a 1-1 draw, instead of a win, in their World Cup warm up with the Swiss due to De Gea’s mishandling of a very weak shot from Stephan Lichtsteiner which then allowed Ricardo Rodriguez to equalize.
Lopetegui backed De Gea by telling AS:
“David knows that he is going to help us overcome many games and I have no doubt about it.”
-On to some transfer items now, United manager Jose Mourinho was spotted in a baseball cap at Austria’s friendly versus Russia scouting West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic.
The London club is not interested in selling though, reportedly, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to be buyers, not sellers right now.
Arnautovic says he’s flattered by the interest from United, but claims that Old Trafford have yet to make an approach for him.
Via Daily Mail– When asked about the rumours, Arnautovic said: “It’s nice to hear. I’ve not heard anything from my brother, my agent. You can keep asking this question, you’ll never hear the answer from me.”
-Finally, what will become of Marouane Fellaini? This is a shocking development, if it’s true- Arsenal are interested in acquiring the Belgian, who reportedly held talks with Unai Emery. More via the Daily Mirror:
“According to The Times , Fellaini is more likely to sign for the north Londoners than he is pen a new deal at Old Trafford.”
