Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron joined NBCSports.com, it was announced today. In addition to his role with the website, Cameron will contribute to NBC’s Premier League telecasts. Cameron makes his debut Sunday when he will join Arlo White in the booth to call Crystal Palace v. Liverpool.
Again, as someone who strives (but often fails) to be a journalistic purist, I strongly disapprove of this idea. There are all kinds of conflicts-of-interest at work here. If I was a Liverpool supporter (or Palace) for that matter, I would be upset by this. There is no firewall anymore. How can this guy be objective? Cameron will be in the booth, calling LFC vs CP one day after suiting up for Stoke City in their Saturday match against Burnley
I see this as being all kinds of wrong.
Look at what Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall is doing with Showtime this year. How is his season going?
