Liverpool FC have moved on from defender Martin Skrtel. Once considered perhaps the best player in the back line during part of the Brendan Rodgers era, he’s now struggled to regain that fine form and now fallen way out of favor under Jurgen Klopp. After he suffered an injury in a January loss to Watford, Skrtel descended down the depth chart, and found himself selected for the first team just four times the rest of the season.
Now, according to Turkish club Fenerbahce, he’ll get a chance to rejuvenate his career in Turkey.

A few teams, including Napoli, have reportedly expressed interest in Skrtel over the past year or so. Liverpool and Fenerbahce had been in talks for awhile, but Skrtel’s international duty as Captain of the Slovakia National Team at the 2016 European Championships delayed the deal. Now the deal is completely sealed, and Skrtel will be unveiled at Fenerbahce tomorrow.
Two weeks ago, Skrtel was already mentally out the door.
In the comments section, of an Instagram post, Skrtel called Klopp an expletive, but the defender claims the remark was made by another individual who had access to his account. More on this story here…
