It will continue to be a very exciting summer transfer window at Liverpool, with plenty of potential comings and goings. During the regular season, Manager Jurgen Klopp made public remarks promising additions beyond Naby Keita this summer, and in Fabinho, we’ve already seen the first one.
The tabloids and back pages are quite busy this silly season, so, let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet this Monday.
When most people talk about the Liverpool transfer window right now, the discussion usually centers around who the fall back options for Nabil Fekir could be. Talks with Lyon over the attacking midfielder broke down at the 11th hour, and now LFC must look elsewhere.
It’s been said that a Fekir to Anfield move could be revisited after the World Cup has been completed, but certainly do not hold your breath on that one.
Ajax star man Hakim Ziyech is one option, according to TalkSPORT, who write that “Portuguese outlet Correia da Manha reported that Liverpool are now on the list of clubs chasing Ziyech, looking to add competition and depth to their explosive frontline of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.”
Ziyech’s release clause is reported to be £18 million, which is obviously a lot more cost effective than Fekir (£53 million).
While the Moroccan international would definitely be a very nice pick-up, the front line is definitely far from Liverpool’s biggest area of need. Of course, another rumored target to beef up the high flying attack is Lucas Paqueta.
The Flamengo man reportedly carries a £43m price tag, and we covered him in our transfer round-up yesterday.
-Alex Telles is a name that popped up this weekend as a leading Liverpool transfer target, and the Reds will have major competition in their pursuit of the Porto left-back. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and other big clubs are reportedly keen on acquiring him.
Reports in Portugal, as well as the British newspaper the Daily Mirror, claim Anfield are willing to exercise his a€35 million release clause.
-Finally, we follow up on another transfer story that we covered as an item in yesterday’s round-up.
Rhian Brewster, the 18-year-old sensation wanted by teams in the Bundesliga has reached an agreement to stay at Liverpool. The Telegraph had an item on it yesterday, while the BBC has a report covering it today. Brewster will stay at Anfield for five more years, until 2023.
