Yesterday brought the release of the 2017-18 fixture list and Liverpool FC caught a bit of a break this time. Last season they endured a festive period that was overloaded with fixture congestion.
The schedule makers did not wish them a very happy holidays, and instead gave them a huge workload in late December, which then carried over into an utterly ridiculous January slate. Although Liverpool FC Manager Jurgen Klopp consistently maintained that the schedule would not be an excuse for poor results, the first month of 2017 was disastrous for them, and it nearly derailed the Reds 2016-17 season.
It looks easier, at least on paper, for 2017-18. Although December is still busy, with seven fixtures, these are more spread out. January only has four this time around. Of course, if you know anything about LFC, it’s that they struggle with the games that seem easy on paper and flourish in the contests that one would assume to be difficult.
It’s who they were last season, so when looking at the list below, it’s actually hard to infer what will be challenging and what will be a breeze.
